SUCCESS STORY
Damond Ramsey
Damond Ramsay was a participant in the Power/Excel program at Christopher Place in the spring, 2005 where we offered our courses entitled Powerful Communication and Conflict Management and How to Make Money and Make Money Work for You. Now age 40, Damond recaps a brief history of his life for us:
“After I was released from prison where I went into treatment following 20 years of substance abuse, I entered Christopher Place Employment Academy for aftercare. After one year at Christopher Place I got my first job at Sacred Zion Church in a program called Project Arise, a non-profit, state-based HIV outreach program targeting homeless and drug-addicted populations.
“One year later in June, 2007 I was hired by Health Care for the Homeless where I received training in phlebotomy. Now while working there I am enrolled in Sojourner Douglas College.
“What I remember as most helpful from the Power/Excel course was the use of positive affirmations. Positive affirmations helped me change my perspective on life and draw positive energy. Ultimately I was able to re-define what success looks like for me.” |
