Class Format for Courses
Objective: The student will build a portfolio, their tool box for life, throughout the course. The tool box for life contains all course materials, motivational quotes and journal entries to assist them in becoming a role model for their children and creating healthy relationships.
Meditation – Goal: Learn techniques to release stress and create centering
Gathering – Goal: Each person will become comfortable speaking from the heart without the need for approval from others
Facilitator makes a statement (usually relating to a concept presented from the last meeting). Each participant gives their name and an interpretation of the statement in round robin fashion without discussion or judgment.
Facilitator presents a motivational quote on specialty paper, which serves to set the tone of the session. (Example: Problems are opportunities for success. Every problem has a solution. Solving problems makes us more valuable to ourselves and others.) Some of the most powerful insights among participants occur in the Gathering.
Reading: Inspirational stories or short excerpts about people succeeding from their world. A brief discussion follows about what qualities helped them succeed or got in the way of success.
Interactive exercise – whole group, small group or pairs. Afterward participants reflect in pairs or in small groups about what happened with their experience in the exercise.
Evaluation: A short written evaluation occurs after each concept to test the students’ knowledge.
