Our Mission
The Power/Excel Foundation was established in 1989 to deliver interactive training to at-risk youth. Today, we provide services for at-risk youth and adults returning to their communities following a period of incarceration. Our goal is to reduce the likelihood of re-incarceration and to decrease the chances of first time incarceration for youth at-risk.
At-risk youth and adult offenders, during incarceration and post release, are assisted through interactive seminars to develop skills to rebuild their lives.
Power/Excel works by contract and through the assistance of grants with correctional facilities, public schools, and community-based organizations. Our site-based instruction as
sists our clients in becoming productive and successful members of the community.
What Makes Power Excel Different from Other Programs of it’s Kind?
Before behavior can change in a person, the thinking behind the behavior must change. To change thinking, we begin with the feelings—often deeply buried from trauma and substance abuse. In order to set goals, these men and women have to feel the goals at the emotional level before they can experience them at the intellectual level.
